Spring Has Sprung

It's here! It's here! It's finally here!
Hello spring, it is so nice to have you!
You have brought me such joy already.
I can not wait to see what else you are hiding up your dainty little sleeve.

You brought me to my first trip to the Bean Museum.

You brought me to Stacey & Brock's beautiful wedding, complete with some of my favorite people in the world.

You brought me to Heidi's house one fine evening, where we stayed up way too late talking about only the most important things in life. You also brought me German pancakes... well, it was mostly Heidi, but I'll give you some credit too.

You brought me a beautiful BIRTHDAY GIRL! Zoe turned twenty, so we had plenty of reason to celebrate. Who knew that a Facebook group would have brought us together so long ago? She's kicked her teen years now and I'm excited to watch her on her many adventures to come. Watch out world. Seriously.

You brought me baby leaves, sunshine, and even shadows!

You brought me fresh bread. My first time baking it! You could tell I was excited by my multiple instagrams and endless tweets. How very accomplished I am, even if I did burn the top...

& some tough love from Farryn Elizabeth. I just thought this was funny.

So HAPPY SPRING everyone. Get ready for plenty more foot pictures. I was really excited to pull out my saltwater sandals again. Suggestions for a new color this year? Brown, Navy, Pink, Red? Get them all? Okay.

Feeling Fancy

A couple of months ago, my dear friend Zoe asked me if I'd like to be in a Gossip Girl style brunch for a commercial BYU was shooting. She knew I'd be sold as soon as she said Gossip Girl. I got all dolled up on a saturday morning and spent the day being in the background of this 30 second commercial. It's truly amazing how much work goes into a 30 second video. We got there before sun rise in order to get hair and makeup done. I sat in the dining room for about an hour so the camera crew could test the lighting. We were there for about 5 hours shooting, and that was just camera work. I have no idea how much time was spent just preparing for the shoot, coming up with the ideas, booking the room, finding the actors, and not to mention all the time they spent in post processing.
We made new friends, drank sparkling cider, and spent a lot of time fake laughing.

Were you looking for me in the background?
Oh wait, you couldn't see me?
You don't believe I was actually there?...

Well... aha!
I took the time to screen shot the few times I make my commercial appearance.
(Complete with red arrows so you can tell my dark shadow apart from the other dark shadows)
Picture 3 Picture 4 Picture 5 Picture 6

Okay, well you still don't believe me...
but some day IMDB would like to know where my acting career began, so I thought I'd save them the trouble and post it all here for them to google later. I mean there was that one time you could see me clapping in the audience of "So You Think You Can Dance"... but I think this is my real debut.
Thanks for indulging me in my fantasy.

Life as of Late

Oh hey guys, it's me again. I'm really behind on my blogging. Actually, I'm really behind on most things... but I do what I can right? These past couple of weeks have been so crazy for me, but I love the chaos... it keeps life interesting. My motto is 'Never let yourself get too comfortable', I actually have a lot of mottos, but that's my most recent.

So lets try and put this all in order. A couple of weeks ago, my class took a field trip up to the Natural History Museum in SLC. If you haven't had a chance to go yet, you've got to make the trip. It was really fun to go as a class, we only have 6 students in this class so we've gotten pretty close this last semester. I'd have to say that its been my favorite class at BYU thus far. We brought the dinner club back together... well kinda. Anna, Carson and I would make Italian dinners together every so often last semester. This year it's just Carson and I, but Anna joined us for a night at Terra Mia where we learned how to make Pizza Margarita. In Italy, you have to get a license to make pizza. Legit. We got to talk to their certified Pizza maker in Italian and then got free Pizza! Score for poor college students.

Then for the weekend we decided to go visit Farryn in Salt Lake. I saw her cute apartment for the first time and then we headed to dinner, just the girls and Scott (Farryn's boyfriend, what a sport). Aimee and I had been wanting to try this middle eastern place in Salt Lake because I've missed shawarma and she had heard about it from a friend. While we were waiting to be seated, we went next door for desert. They had the BEST gelato I've ever tasted, lemon poppyseed... genius I know.

Also, they let us draw on the tables... so that was a plus.

Then I became deathly ill right before my trip to Seattle. I was feeling a lot like this...

IMG_2017

But, luckily, I was feeling a lot better by the time I was leaving for Seattle. I left with (what I thought was) plenty of time. It was a random friday and I thought there would be no trouble getting through security because I never had trouble before. I stepped off the tram from long term parking, got my boarding pass,  and rounded the corner to face an eternity of a line. I was stuck... It was getting down to the wire and by the time I reached the x-ray machines, I only had 15 min until my plane took off. I rushed through security as fast as I could without looking suspicious and took off running towards my terminal. My flight was scheduled to leave in 10 min and I was frantically running down the hallways. I'm looking at the terminal numbers and I realize my gate is the VERY LAST ONE. I'm sure the security tapes provided endless entertainment for employees as I sprinted with my carry-on, almost knocking out two older women. I got to my gate, out of breath and with hope in my eyes as the lady shook her head and said 'you better hurry on'. I ran on to the plane and the attendant had to help put my bag up because I could barely breath. As I sat down in my seat I felt like I needed a round of applause or something, but I was just happy I made it on at all.

It was a beautiful, rainy day in Seattle. I've always been a fan of rain and I loved how everything was so green. I loved driving down the highway with either side of the road lined with tall trees and the occasional break over a choppy lake. I loved the wood houses and the moss growing on trees. I loved how the whole city seemed to be alive and growing. I seriously wouldn't mind moving there.

IMG_2024

Then Saturday was the big day! Emily and Matt had a beautiful wedding and it was such a pleasure to be there to photograph it. We had fun working around the rain and managed to get some really great photographs in the process. You can be expecting those soon :)

IMG_2029

And now its starting to feel like spring. The grass is coming in green and it's hoping to stay. The sun has been shining and I haven't needed a coat in almost a week. Everyone is giddy with anticipation for the semester to be over and for new summer adventures to begin. We had a fun outdoor concert the other day. A house across the street had a band playing on the front lawn, so I went out to join some of the other girls in my complex for a show on the grass. Those are the kind of moments that I love.

So spring... I'm ready for you. Exams... I'm so done with you. & life... I'm so into you.

A jumbled mess.

This post has absolutely no direction. Its cool.

Do you ever feel like life seasons have moods? I do. I've been loving the chill season lately.
IMG_1598 IMG_1717 IMG_1713

I tried the whole 'Middle Part' look and as much as I know you don't care, I have the urge to ask what you think.

IMG_1653

I went and gave blood the other day. It was the first time since I donated in Jerusalem and I had forgotten how much I love doing it. You literally save multiple lives by merely sitting in a chair as they drain your blood away. I'm okay with that. Also, I loved the irony of playing this song... one of my all time favorites.

IMG_1656

Zoe and I took a night to go see her friends play in SLC. They opened for Parachute and I have to say that the Tessa Barton Band stole the show. They have an incredible story and the talent to back it up. We stopped for Chipotle on the way up and made a fun night out of it.

IMG_1659 IMG_1663

I asked this boy to be my Valentine this year. I absolutely adore my little brother. My mom told me that he comes home from school and checks his Facebook first thing to see if I've sent him a message. He recently passed me in height... making me now the shortest child in the family despite being the oldest. Stop growing up.

IMG_1156

For Valentines day this year, the girls and I finally fulfilled a life long dream of ours. We had a 'I Hate Valentines Day, But Not Really' party. We really aren't bitter, but we just thought hitting a pinata looked like a lot of fun. Afterwards, we went to see the midnight showing of 'The Vow'. I love love loved the movie, but I love just about anything with Channing Tatum in it. Also, we figured out that it only takes two weeks to fall in love with Channing. In 'Dear John' and "The Vow' both girls admitted it took them 2 weeks to fall in love. Congrats Channing.

IMG_1680 IMG_1673

On a side note, I've been fawning over these posters around Provo. Each day there is a new love letter to be found by scanning the code. Every time I read them I pretend they were written for me. Talk about hopeless romantic.

IMG_1671 IMG_1683

Also, I came across this old FB status the other day. In 10 short months I'll be $100 richer. #ToldYouSo.

& because I hate to leave you without a song...

my loves

IMG_1603

Please excuse me while I talk about how much I love the people in my life...

I love that they listen to my abstract theories about the creation of the world... even at 2 in the morning.
I love that they give me rides to my car because I'm from CA and anything under 60 degrees is too cold.
I love that they suffer through my complaining about the boys that don't love me.
I love that they model for me when I see perfect lighting.
I love that they let me play my 'hipster' music while they try to sleep.
I love that they trance dance with me.
I love that they let me do that weird rhino nose thing I do.
I love that they let me sing really loudly in the car and basically butcher their favorite songs.
I love that they laugh at my clean laundry pile instead of yelling about it.
I love that they massage my wrists when I complain about how they hurt.
I love that they point out the things they love about me when I'm feeling down on myself.
I love that no matter what stupid/weird/annoying thing I do, they still love me.

I have this theory (again with the theories kaitlin?) that real love comes from doing the smallest of things.
The times where we have the best excuses not to do something, and we do it anyways, are the times that real devotion comes through. I could say 'goodness Heavenly Father, its so late and I have to get up early tomorrow, you'll understand if I don't read my scriptures tonight right?'... but where does that get me? It gets me 15 more minuets of sleep and 15 less minuets of teachability. So I am grateful for friends who do the littlest of things for me, even when they don't have to. Its those 15 minuets that mean the world. I'm grateful to be surrounded by people that sincerely care about me and truly want me to be happy.

As Of Late

Here is what has been happening in Provo UT.

It snowed one day.

IMG_1512

And then it rained away all my snow.

IMG_1509

We made some ASL friends and Sammy's and they invited us to the deaf meeting at church on Sunday. So cool. Thank goodness Zoe played translator for me.

IMG_1481

We have attended quite a few Volleyball games.

IMG_1504 IMG_1494

I got this extremely nice note at work. I love my job, and I love leaving after work feeling like I made a difference in someone's life.

IMG_1515

College kids really like cereal. Also, I hate spending money on necessities. I'd much rather buy new cloths from J.Crew.

IMG_1522

Aimee and I started our first ever LOTR & Waffle Sundays... next week we are thinking pancakes, they are a lot easier to make faces out of them. Guess who our waffle creation is? Hint: Its not the incredibly handsome Elf pictured above him.

IMG_1537

I guess nothing too exciting to report, but I know my mom will appreciate it.
