Missionary Work

Ohh how I LOVE missionaries. I think its amazing that boys at the age of 19 would give up their whole lives for two whole years (thats a LONG time) to serve people they have never met before. The guts they have to just walk up to a door and say "hey let me tell you about my church" is incredible. I have a hard time doing that with people I know. Thats why I'm writing this post. I heard this quote today and It gave me chills.

"At some moment in the world to come, everyone you will ever meet will know what you know now. They will know that the only way to live forever in the presence of our Heavenly Father and His son was to choose to enter into the gate by baptism at the hands of those with authority from God. They will know that the only way families can be together forever is to accept and keep sacred covenants. And they will know that you knew. And they will remember whether you offered them what someone offered you" - Henry B. Eyring

I feel so blessed to be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It has brought me everything good in my life. Every day I wake up knowing that I have a Father in heaven that care about me deeply. I know that this church is true. I know it with every piece of me. I just need the courage to stand and tell people because if I don't then someone could miss out on the biggest blessing of their life, something that could change them forever. Who cares if people reject you, because at least you tried, you can have comfort in the fact that one day they will know its true and they will thank you for trying.

A boy in my class made this great comment "We often pray for missionary opportunities, but we hardly pray for the courage to create one" Lets all have that courage to share something so special. Thank you to all my amazing friends who are out doing this every day, and those who are preparing to go, as well as those who have come home. I want to be more like you.

If you are not a member of this church, feel free to ask me any questions, as you have probably read, I would love to tell you about it. You can also read more at www.mormon.org

Moved in

So I'm all moved in to our new apartment! I'm living at Liberty Square which is just south of campus.

We left thursday afternoon after a long morning that consisted of: me sleeping in because I went to bed at 4 a.m., My mom taking all the kids to school, packing up the car, double checking to make sure I had everything, dropping by Dallin's house to say goodbyes :(, realized the car tire is low, trying to fill it up at the gas station, realizing the air pump didn't work, making a pit stop at the tire store, waiting for 2 WHOLE HOURS, before they even looked at the car, having them find a whole and thankfully fixing it (so glad we checked instead of finding out about it in the 112 degree arizona desert), and FINALLY getting on our way.

My mom and I got in late thursday night and my adorable roommate ashley had already started decorating(: I'll post pictures soon! I traveled back to mine and Zoe's room to find that it was even smaller then our dorm room, didn't know that was possible. It was like a jigsaw puzzle trying to figure out how we were going to work it all out until we had a brilliant idea. bunk beds. Now we have more space but have to worry about Zoe keeping her head from being chopped off by the ceiling fan.

Never in my life did I think I would be so miserable shopping. Ugh. My mom and I were walking around Target at a pace of .0001 mph. but we found everything we needed. I also got a Costco card! So exciting! I felt so legit flashing my card as I walked by the lady in the red vest to go grocery shopping. I bought lots of yummy healthy foods to make delicious dinners for my roommates.

So after playing tetris with the fridge and trying to find a place for all my stuff, I'm finally all settled. I'm so glad my mom was able to come up with me because I don't think I could have done it alone. So much work.

Now I just have to figure out all my school stuff. Class schedule, work schedule, and church schedule. Its a lot to fit in but I am SO excited to start this new year.

I have amazing roommates, perfect neighbors, and valiant missionaries to write(:

Life is good.

Get a Grip

I have been so overwhelmed with all the stuff I have to do

Pack for school
Edit photos
Send photos
Work 8 hours a day
Babysit
Fix my computer
Hang out with my best friend before he is gone for 2 years
Update my blog
Get a hold on my life

I was so stressed out even thinking about it...

and then I found this quote

"The secret to getting ahead is getting started. The secret to getting started is breaking your complex overwhelming tasks into small managable tasks, and then starting on the first one" - Mark Twain

It made me feel so much better. I can get a hold on this I just need to do it a little at a time.
Why stress about the big things like what I'm going to major in, what career path to take, stuff like that? I need to just start with the here and now. Take one small step forward and eventually everything will fall into place.

Thank goodness for famous writers who can calm me with one small sentance

Love always,
K
